Sorry, this has probably been answered before but I seem to be getting conflicting information!

My friend, British Passport Holder, is travelling up on the train to Nong Khai.

Does he need to get a visa before he leave Bkk. If so where does he get it from(I have read that a travel agent can issue one)?

Or, can you get a Laos visa on entry?

He can get it at the border.

Also at the Lao Embassy in BKK or the Lao Consulate in Khon Kaen.

Visa on entry, they take USD or baht.

If he gets it at the embassy or through a travel agent it may save time crossing the border if they are busy.
