Divorce Procedure For 2 Foreigners Married Under Thai Law

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a simple explanation of this for a marriage registered in Land of Smiles....

Go home! You no longer have to answer to Thai Law. Could I be any simpler?

Not a particularly helpful reply I must say. By "going home" you'd come under your home country's laws, which are probably rather more complicated than here in Thailand.

Re a Thai divorce, do a Google for: thai divorce

Lots of hits there.

In real simple terms, if you got married at Thai amphur, district office, and if your upcoming divorce is by mutual consent with agreement on division of assets, relatively simple.

Both husband and wife return to the amphur, sign the divorce papers, done deal.

A little more complicated than that but not by much. Read up on it. Essential, tho, that it's by mutual consent, not a real acrimonious divorce.
