Just wondering whether Immigration issue re-entry permits for tourist visas and how much it costs if they do?

Yes, you can obtain a re-entry permit on a tourist visa to preserve your current permission to stay. On re-entry you should be stamped back in with your current permission to stay date. Obtain from local immigration office. 1,000 baht single entry or 3,800 baht multiple entry.

Thanks a lot for your precious help. Am trying to figure out if it really makes sense and in which cases, 3,800 bahts is a bit pricy for a 2 to 3-months permission to stay...

Let us know your travel plans/dates and we can advise further. It may be possible to use visa exempt entries on re-entry depending on your plans/timings. 30 days visa exempt entry if re-entering by air, or 15 days visa exempt entry at land border.
