Transfer Non B To Non O

Featured Replies

i currently have a non b visa and work permit. i have a new job starting (diff company) next month and wondered if its possible to transfer the non b to a non o without leaving thailand. as a female british citizen married to thai man, what documents would i need to apply for the non o.

look forward to your replies,

As a Lady married to a Thai man you can get 12 month extensions from Immigration very easily.

Not the same for us men with Thai Wives.

You will probably get some good advice in the Ladies Forum as many Ladies there are in the same boat.

Hi

Not sure how easy it is to change a Non B to a Non O. Have only ever had Non O based on marriage but the requirements to get a Non O are;

Your passport

Husbands id or passport

Wedding certificate

Husbands Tabien baan (copy of)

Passport photos

That's about it. I got a Non O from London Thai embassy in November with only those documents although they did also take a copy of my sons birth certificate too & I went to immigration last week to check what I need to apply for my 1 year extention on 21st February & was told the same documents were needed.

The sheet she gave me was for foreign men married to thai so it also included the financial requirements but confirmed that these were not needed.

Usually when wanting to get a non imm visa then a visit to a consul/embassy outside of Thailand is required but suggest you go along to your local immigration office with your husband & check that it is possible to convert inside Thailand & what they need for extensions etc, I know from reading different threads that different offices have their own quirks when it comes to proof of relationship so best to ask at your one.

As Boo said pop along to Immigration and have a chat.

The 12 month extension is 1,900 Baht and being a Lady you do not need the financial requirements that Men do.

Your Husband may have to show some income or Tax Payments.

As said all Immigration Offices are different.

one last thing.....

i got married (local thai ceremony) almost 2 yrs ago, now have a 1 yr old daughter. i havent yet registered my marriage in thailand legally. if i do that this week, then apply for a non o the following week, is there a possibility that they will decline the visa application?

Not married yet?

Do it this week and you will be ok.

If you go to Immigration with your Husband you will be applying for an Extension O Stay. Not a Visa.

Providing you meet the requirements you will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp. Go back in a month and get the remainder of the extension.

As said for a Lady there should not be a problem. You just need to find out what they require.

great, thanks. so once i quit my current job and they cancel my work permit, if i have already got the "o" it wouldnt be cancelled out would it? sorry for so many questions!

You will be extending your stay for marriage rather than work so no, loss of work will not end the extension of stay.

Again. You are not applying for an O Visa.

You are apply for a 12 month extension of stay based on Marriage.

just to update in case anyone else in a similiar position. i cant apply at a local imm. office., trying to find out if its possible to do in bkk. anyone know of a good contact in bkk immigration that speaks decent english? its a little frustrating trying to get the answers i need....

You can't do what at a local immigration office? If you marry you most surly can apply for extension of stay at a local immigration office. What it will require may be different for different circumstances however.

But your post is not clear on your current status. You say non immigrant B visa. Do you mean a 90 day stay and you enter country for a new stay every 90 days? Or are you here on an extension of stay for one year from Immigration already; for work?

Marriage seems to be what you need to do first and that will require obtaining a paper from your Embassy, filling it out with bio data and having translated into Thai and then having it registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That will likely take most of this week. Once you have that document you can visit District Office with it and your passport and husband and his ID card to register the marriage.

sorry for any unclear posts.

ok, the marriage will be registered this week. spoke to local immigration again and was told,

last day of current job go to labour office, cxl work permit

take the slip from the labour office to immigration on the same day

and change to non o, with all docs as mentioned in above posts.

thanks for all your help, hopefully things will go smoothly!

That would be the correct procedure. Don't worry, if the paperwork is not in order you can always get a 60 day extension (1,900 baht) based on having a Thai husband. That gives you more time to organize the 1 year extension.

and change to non o, with all docs as mentioned in above posts.

Sorry to keep correcting you but you are not changing to a Non O Visa.

You are applying for a 12 month extension of your temporary permision to stay in the Kingdom.

Based on being married to a Thai Man. :)
