Extension Processing Time

Featured Replies

I'm working here on a Non B and work permit. My family joined me here having secured Non O visas (3 months, single entry) in Manila. We travelled together and our 3 months are due on March 5th.

I have given my employer plenty of notice (6 weeks) to prepare the necessary company documents required for our extension but it looks like there could be delays. How long does it take for Immigration dept to process the extension request if all the docs are in place? If my employer cannot secure the docs in time, will we all have to leave the country or are there any other options? (My daughter is in school and having paid large sums to put her there I'll be damned if we have to go through the whole visa application process again).

Any suggestions much appreciated.

How about this: Your daughter gets a 1 year extension of stay based on her being enrolled in a private school, then your wife gets a 1 year extension of stay based on your daughters extension. See 2.9 and 2.11 of the immigration extension of stay rules. 500,000 baht would need to be deposited in a local bank prior to your wife getting her extension. You are then free to get your own extension of stay based on working.

Immigration doesn't take long, done in a couple of hours. You also have the option mentioned by interested observer. It has the advantaged that they will not have to leave the country the same day you lose your job.
