Hi Everyone

I'll be visiting the U.K next month with my Thai wife and 4 year old son. Just wondered if any of you out there have the answers to a few last minute questions as this will be our first trip as a family and I've not been home for almost 8 years.

My son has a British and a Thai passport. Does he still need some kind of visa to enter the UK, or just his passport? Tried calling the embassy but couldn't understand the lady who took my call.

AND

Basically the same in reverse-When my son returns to Thailand and uses his Thai passport, does he need a Re-Entry visa or something? Again, I asked someone at Mataput Immmigration and again, could not understand what he said, but he did say something about bringing in my son's passport to get it stamped-What's he talking about? Wanted to ask him again but he didn't look in the best of moods.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

Immigration likely thought you were talking about entry into Thailand using UK passport in which case he could extend for a year at a time easily. But even easier just forget it as there would be no fine involved.

But as said above leave (if he has virgin UK passport) using the Thai passport at passport control but showing both to airline (proving he needs no visa). If immigration asks you can also show UK passport to prove he needs no visa. Use UK passport in/out UK and use the Thai passport to enter Thailand.

Thanks for that chaps.

I didn't think we'd need anything but didn't want to get to get all the way home then have a problem.

My Thai wife didn't ask the immigration officer because she wasn't there but my ears are ready for a de-wax.

Cheers

Remember your rug rat must leave Thailand on his Thai passport.

Enter and leave UK on British passport.

Enter Thailand on Thai passport.

Have done this several times to Korea - No problems.
