Extension To Non'o' Marriage Visa Issied In Kl

Featured Replies

I have a multiple entry non 'O' visa issued in KL with marriage certificate and letter from my Malaysian employer. When it runs out next month, do I have a choice between new visa or extension? If so which is best/easiest?

I guess I can apply any time in last 30 days – can anyone confirm?

Many thanks in advance.

It all depends on what you qualify for.

A 12 month extension costs 1,900 Baht and can be got from Immigration in Thailand.

You need 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank for 2 months OR 40,000 Baht monthly income.

Plus a few other things. Apply in the last 30 days.

If you do not qualify you will have to do the same as last year.

Don't forget that you can get 15 months out of a Non Imm O Multi Visa.

Just noticed that you have applied for extension in the past so you know what do do.

Don't forget that you can get 15 months out of a Non Imm O Multi Visa.

Maybe I forgot to mention the key! Sorry,

In Bangkok, getting an extension is just too much trouble, especially as my employer is outside Thailand and three weeks out of four I am in KL. Are you saying only " can be got from Immigration in Thailand " ?

I want to do it in KL, but I'm not sure if they can/will do it.

How can I get 15 months on my current visa? Or did I make a mistake when I applied? It was issued for one year should I have asked for 15 months?

The visa is valid for 1 year. Each time you enter during the time it is valid, you will get a permission to stay for 90 days. If you leave and re-enter just before the visa expires, you still get a new permission to stay for the full 90 days. In this way you can almost get 15 months out of the visa.

In your case it seems to be a problem, as you are often outside of Thailand. Leaving after your visa expires means you will not get a new permission of stay, but you could get a re-entry permit to keep the permission to stay alive.

OK I understand that now, thanks, I may not be able to use this time as I'll be in Bangkook just too late.

My first question was, can I extend my visa outside Thailand?

Extensions are of stay in Thailand - not extensions of visa.

As said a new visa could be issued outside of Thailand - not an extension of stay.

To obtain a new visa in KL normally requires proof of 100k in bank account along with the marriage/id paperwork of spouse.
