What Are The Requirements For Acquiring Thai Citizenship?

Featured Replies

Hello, guys!

Just wondering if you could give me some information on how to acquire a Thai citizenship. I'm married with a Thai man for 2 years now, no children yet and been living in Thailand for 9 years. I have finished my MA degree in a government university in Bangkok. I can understand and communicate in Thai well but zero in writing and reading. And I'm working in a government university in North Thailand.

Wait for your reply...

Thanks!

Easy, a sh$t load of money to whom ever requests it, however it is possible apply to Thai Gov with all the necessary docs' set.

that is stage one. After this you can apply for citizenship.

Not quite. Foreign women married to a Thai male get a free pass and go straight to GO without having to bother with PR.

Here is a post I did nearly two years ago where I outlined the application we did for my wife to get Thai citizenship

Just realise, that after you apply, it is a black hole with no clarity when the citizenship might be granted

Ain't that the truth, I know somebody here 30 years who applied 2 years ago and has spent a LOT of money so far. Success his passport was ready he was recently told, but if he wanted it straight away there was the little matter of six hundred thousand baht to pay, if not they could not say when he might get the passport. Who would want citizenship of a country where this sort of corruption happens. To date he has not paid and no passport forthcoming!
