February 25, 201016 yr Hi, US citizen and i came in overland without a visa and they stamped me in for 15 days. When those 15 days were up I flew to Phnom Penh for a week and flew back to BKK and they gave me 30 days. Can i do this one more time for a total of 75 days? Thanks SGH
February 25, 201016 yr Author OK thanks i appreciate! Was there a limit at one time? I remember you could only do runs like this and stay inside thailand for only 90 out of 180 days? or something like that. The immigration officer would add up how many days you stayed etc thanks again! sgh
February 25, 201016 yr There was previously a 90/180 day rule that applied to visa exempt entry only. That rule stopped 4th Dec 2008 and was replaced with a reduction in the number of days obtained at land border crossing on visa exempt entry to 15 (from 30).
February 25, 201016 yr Author OK thanks thaiphoon, interesting, so you could perpetually do this without any problems?? its seems you would eventually run into problems using tourist visas?
February 25, 201016 yr It is expensive to do that every 15/30 days unless for other reasons and, whilst there is no official restriction, 4 back to back crossings at land border may lead immigration to questioning what you are doing. To stay here longer term it is best to obtain a visa. Double entry tourist visas are available in Vientiane, for example, giving 6 months stay with extensions and a border run in the middle. Or can currently obtain 12 month Non-O visa from a few consulates worldwide (nearest to Thailand being Perth) on the basis of visiting friends, but would require border run every 90 days.
