Non-imm "b' 1 Year Single Entry Visa

Featured Replies

I have a one year Non-immigrant type B Visa on single entry only (arranged by my ex-employer) that is coming to the end of it's 1st 3 month period. I previously had a multiple entry visa so this was not a problem, every 3 months i just did the visa run from phuket.

I have now finished my job and wish to stay for another month or so, but have to leave sooner according to my visa.

What is the best thing to do in this situation?

Can I get a tourist visa for 1 month from phuket, or is there another option?

I am english, below 50 years old. All help and advice appreciated!

Thanks

There is no single entry 1 year on-B visa, so it is unclear what you have.

You either have a non-B single entry good for 90 days or a multiple valid for 1 year and each time you enter Thailand during that year you get 90 days to stay in Thailand. Or you went to immirgation in Thailand with all the papers from your employer and got a 1 year extension of stay.

Did you go to an immirgassion office with your work permit etc or not?

It definitely is a one year visa, single entry for business. got it from thai consulate in KL - it was cheaper than multiple entry which is prob why my tight-ass company chose it. The moment i got it i realised what a waste of time it was - obv i still have to cross the border after 3 months - which requires a 2nd entry - which is not allowed with this visa. Pointless?!

This is very strange. Can you post a scan of the visa so we can check what it is and what you have.

The visa stamp should say something like valid till or must be used before **-**-****. What dat does it say? That should either be 3 months or 1 year after you got the visa. If they also put in single use it is a single entry. Maybe they made a mistakke with their stamps.

As for your situation, if it is a single entry, you won't be able to extend it. You have to go abroad to get a tourist visa for 60day. If you just fly out and fly in again from a neighbouring country they will give you 30 days on your re-entry.

A single entry visa expires on use so it does not matter in any case. Your visa is invalid and your one 90 day permitted to stay is coming to an end. You can not obtain more than a 7 day extension from Immigration and that would likely require a ticket out of Thailand. So if you plan one more month you have choice of two 15 day land border runs, or an air exit/return for 30 days, or obtain a tourist visa for 60 days.

As said you had a Single Entry Visa that gives 90 days.

You now need a Tourist Visa or do border runs.
