For info:

The new "Dashboard" feature in Apple's recently released Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger operating system, can allow "Widgets" containing malware to be downloaded, installed and run without the user's knowledge or permission. More info here.

Users can turn-off the automatic Open "Safe" Files by uncheckung this feature in Safari.

-or-

Download and install a small utility named "Widget, The World Watcher 1.0" at this link. This program will notify you (via a popup window) when the OS is attempting to download a widget, thus allowing you to accept or reject the installation, or save it for later examination and use.

(Disclamer: I am not a Mac user, thus have not tested nor can I personally recommend the above utility.)

cheers :o
