Activating Second Half Of Double Entry Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hello all~ I have a double entry tourist visa where the first 60 days will be up on Sunday, March 14th. I am aware that Bangkok will most likely be a mess the 12th to the 14th with the Red shirt rally and don't want to be bothered with attempting to get to immigration from Nonthaburi around that time. I have a friend to visit up in Chiang Rai and thought I would combine it with a trip to the border. I'll be returning home sometime in April so I really don't need the full 6 months that can be used on a double entry TV. My question is if I cross into Burma and back out on the same day will the second tourist visa be activated and give me another 60 days in Thailand and is there any fee to do this. Your wise information will be very appreciated. Many thanks & blessings to all. Thai visa has always been a wealth of information for me.... you're the best!

You cvan go to Mae Sot without no problem. On the Thai side there will be no fee, on the Burmese side you will have to pay a fee. It use to be 500 baht, but that was some time ago. Might be more now.

Note that you can extend a touirst visa entry by 30 day by going to an immirgation office and paying 1,900 bath and will also need a photo and to fill in a form. However, be careful to make use of your second entry before the date the visa expires.
