Meanwhile, a roadside bomb was detonated by a remote signal in Bacho district, but no one was wounded in the incident. After the bombings in Narathiwat early Tuesday, soldiers from a special unit used the GT 200 bomb detectors and signal jammers to screen all banks in Yala municipality. Officials are patrolling the areas although there has been no report of an attack in Yala so far. iono
Hmm, seems banks are a popular target these days. Wonder how this will get linked to Mr. T? Isn't that the point in the bombings, because of the court verdict handed down or is it a conspiracy theory that the other side wants all to think it is because of the decision by the courts.... woodwork
Hmm, seems banks are a popular target these days. Wonder how this will get linked to Mr. T? In respect of your comment, I understand the bombings are related to the outcome of the Taksin case. As serveral Banks are believed to of been sponsors of the Coup in 2006, that threw out Taksin & lead to TRT being disbanded. In my experience with people, we are all one in what ever part of the world we were originally born & Thai people are No different...Peace. We are talking about bank bombings and TOURISTS are probably the last thing on the bombers minds. But personal safety is one of the first things on the mind of a tourist traveling to Asia these days. And there will now be another round of "warnings" from the travel offices about safety in Thailand. The cumulative effect of all of these will make a difference to some tourists I'm sure. Very sad time for the Land of Smiles I think.

dingo81
OMG, that's going to help. Quote from the Thai Asean News, "A British manufacturer of the controversial GT-200 explosive detectors has refused to accept the result of the test conducted by the Thai government, which claims the equipment is ineffective. Global Technical, the manufacturer of the GT-200 explosive detectors, has announced through the company's website that it is surprised and disappointed by the Thai government's test result. Global Technical claims the Thai government's test result conflicts with test results from other international independent bodies and the personal experiences of detector operators around the world. The company has refused to make further comment on the matter, but said it would like to review the Thai government's testing method. A reporter from CNN has tried to contact Global Technical and the local distributor, Avia Satcom, but both have refused to give an interview. The manufacturer claims it has sold its product to more than thirty countries around the world, and the GT-200s are in use in many countries such as the Philippines, Mexico, and Kenya. Earlier, the British government banned the export of GT-200s, which are also known as AED651. Also, an executive of the company has been arrested and indicted by the British authority. The use of GT-200s or the AED651s has also been suspended in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to an expert, GT-200s have no electronic detection mechanism, and they use technology similar to a dowsing rod, which is used to find water. The expert added that the most effective thing about the detector is the brain of its operator." I can't post the URL but just google GT

Oberkommando
Just the start of the inevitable civil conflict that has been on the horizon for some time now. Sadly, Thailand was doomed from the moment Thaksin opened the Pandora's Box of populist politics. There's several wealthy and powerful Thais that don't want to see this country move forward and have no time for the rural untermensch. Bangkok Bank is obviously a target because of it's well known advisor and it's connections with the military.
