Legal Advice About Thai Residency?

Featured Replies

I am looking for legitimate legal advice about Thai residency.

- Have been working in Bangkok with work permit for 10 years as a computer consultant

- Am now 65 and consulting contract has finished but still applying for new contracts

- No kids and legal Thai wife who is living in our house in Pattaya

It is impossible to figure out from your Google ads and your sponsors who can really provide proper advice.

Regards... Douglas

There is a long thread regarding the requirements for residency, you might want to start there:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Camerata-s-G...ide-t74654.html

It will answer most of your questions. You do need to pay tax in Thailand and continue to do so. Having an employer will also be important. But read the thread and the persons really in the know can answer your questions further.

Siam Legal....Sunbelt legal both advertise in Bangkok Post have websites, willing to give you some free info.

Both are forum sponsors and you can send them a PM as well. As said, they are willing to answer simple questions.

I have read most of the threads and end up totally confused - most info is out of date.

Also I am quite happy to pay.

So do you have a form to fill out and submit to the two companies, so you get your commission?

Actually the information in the pinned thread linked above is the most current information you are likely to find anywhere.

No we are no working here but trying to answer questions. If you want to use a legal office several have been mentioned. You would need to contact them directly. We do not accept commissions.

You will definitely need to have a current work permit. Also I seem to remember you have to have been working for the same company for two years before you can apply.

They would be the first things I'd ask the lawyers.

However, as the pinned thread says, you can do it yourself (with help from your wife). The immigration people are very helpful, and you will probably save yourself a decent sum.

You will have time, as applications are open only once a year. So far only in December during 2 weeks. You will need the time till than to gather all the relevant information and papers you need to submit.

You seem to have a problem regarding employment, so I would ask a lawyer or immigration directly about that, before you start making expenses.
