haiku
Hello All, Has anyone out there ever have a Blepharoplasty procedure here in Chiang Mai? I would appreciate any feedback on Doctors or Hospitals that would perform an upper and lower Blepharoplasty. I know I could go to Bumrungrad and Yanhee in Bangkok but I live here and it would be nice to convalescence at home rather than in some hotel. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Haiku
Gonzo the Face
To save others a lot of time and questions: Blepharoplasty is surgical modification of the eyelid. Excess tissue such as skin and fat are removed or repositioned, and surrounding muscles and tendons may be reinforced. It can be both a functional and cosmetic surgery I've seen some females who have had the excess skinn repositioned to their chests.... A real turn-on when they blink
uptheos
http://www.surgery-thailand.com/ The above link is for Dr Witoon, who has clinics in Bangkok, Phuket and sometimes Chiang Mai. My sister in UK contacted him, he's not cheap - upper and lower 55,000 Baht......so she's still thinking. Is he any good? - I don't know, but I asked Dr Rachada the eye specialist at Ram if she knew Dr Witoon and her reply was....."oooh he's very famous". She went on to explain that he is an eminent plastic surgeon as well as cosmetic surgeon - whereas most cosmetic surgeons aren't plastic surgeons at all. She said he's expensive because of his reputation. Hope this helps.

uptheos
Learn something new everyday (i prefer the before pic) run away from the mad granny! I think granny will be well pleased and I hope it made her feel better. The other two look perfectly Ok before...to me, I don't know why young Asians want their eyes changed. Having way too much time on my hands, I googled "Plastic Surgeon vs Cosmetic Surgeon" Cosmetic surgery is a sub-specialty of plastic surgery - in the USA at least. So it would seem either there is a major difference in the way they are defined here vs there (unlikely), or there has been some miscommunication, or somebody's jivin. No big whoop, I guess. As long as he's good at cosmetic surgery. While board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery may evidence a physician competent in "plastic surgery," it does not evidence competency in "cosmetic surgery" nor does it demonstrate more "cosmetic surgery" education, training or experience than that of a board-certified dermatologist, general surgeon, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, otolaryngologists or ophthalmologist. justmaybe
It does seem that most roads to quality cosmetic surgery in Chiang Mai lead up the road to Dr. Witoon's clinic. The problem for the OP could be that Dr. Witoon is only in CM a couple of days per month and my impression is that he primarily does cutting work in Bangkok. I found him via a request on hehalf of friends looking for Botox. They were sufficiently pleased that I followed them and I can confirm personally that: 1.) he's very famous, 2. not cheap, and 3.) in my own opinion and experience, well worth the reputation and the price since I only have one face to maintain. There may well be other great cosmetic surgeons in Chiang Mai but his name was the only one that kept coming up when I asked around. I'm planning blepharoplasty with him myself (in BKK). Boy you have got a lot of time on your hands I think in this case Witoon is eminent in both fields. With a Blepheroplasty maybe it's not a big deal, but with some of the more complicated procedures, face lifts etc, perhaps its reassuring to have someone that knows where all the nerves run etc, and how to perform complicated tasks. I don't know, I'm only quoting the lovely Dr Rachada - the only reason I get my eyes checked.

I called Dr. Witoon's clinic today and he will call me back to set up an appointment for consultation. I also had a consultation with a Dr. Somboon Chaisrisawadisuk at Ram hospital. He also seams very capable. Anybody recive blepharoplasty surgery from him? Thanks, Haiku
Yunnie
Eyelid surgery... I dunno how I feel about that whole thing. I can why some would need it, but I can also see it (for Asians) as trying to be more "western" in looks. I just dont understand it. lol. But Haiku, good luck and let us know how it goes!
