Crime Five Drug Suspects Extradited from Laos to Thailand
Picture courtesy of Workpoint, Thai authorities have taken custody of five high-profile drug trafficking suspects who fled to Laos to evade arrest but allegedly continued directing narcotics smuggling operations into Thailand. The suspects were handed over at the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge border checkpoint in Mueang Nong Khai district on 13 August, following joint operations between Thailand’s Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), Lao authorities and other security agencies. The handover was attended by Nong Khai Governor Somphop Samitasiri, ONCB Deputy Secretary-General Aphikit Chor. Rojprasit, Region 4 ONCB Director Kanisorn Papeeranon, senior police and military officers, immigration officials and customs representatives. According to Governor Somphop, the arrests followed coordination between Region 4 ONCB and Ms. Pulaporn Panichkan, Counsellor for Narcotics Control at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane. Lao officials located and detained the five suspects, all wanted in Thailand, before agreeing to their extradition under a bilateral anti-drug cooperation agreement. The extradited suspects are: 1. Mr. Kittichai, alias “Toto” – warrants from Nong Khai and Udon Thani provincial courts. 2. Mr. Saranphat – warrant from Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Court. 3. Mr. Thanakorn – warrant from Udon Thani Provincial Court. 4. Mr. Ekarat – warrant from Nakhon Phanom Provincial Court. 5. Ms. Chonlita – warrant from Nakhon Phanom Provincial Court. Authorities said the group were key members of a transnational drug network, orchestrating large-scale methamphetamine smuggling, particularly into the Northeast, for distribution in local communities, posing serious risks to public safety. The ONCB will continue working with the Royal Thai Police, security agencies and foreign counterparts, especially Laos, to track down the remaining 16 drug fugitives named in Thailand’s request list as part of a crackdown on cross-border narcotics networks. Accident Crash Scene Shock as ‘Victims’ Turn Out to Be Mannequins
Pictures from responders. Rescue workers were startled in the early hours of the morning of 13 August, after responding to a reported mass casualty road crash, involving a pickup truck hitting a barrier near Charoen Charoen Market, Saraphi District, Chiang Mai. At around 01:20 emergency responders and multiple ambulances, arrived to find a white Mitsubishi pickup, where the driver had lost control and collided with a road barrier at a construction site near a pedestrian crossing. What initially caused alarm at the scene, was the sight of multiple arms and legs seemingly spilling out across the truck’s rear compartment, leading to witnesses fearing a serious multi-casualty incident. However, it was soon revealed that the bodies and limbs, belonged to clothing store mannequins arranged in the back of the vehicle, not injured passengers. With the driver escaping unharmed, the incident had turned from potential disaster to rather humorous. The rescue team then helped manage traffic control at the scene to prevent further incident, before the mannequins and pickup were safely removed. Adapted by Asean Now 2025-08-14 -

Putin Has Blackmail Material on Trump, claims Mussayev
Well the KGB / FSB are specialists in that kind of thing. Personally, I tend to rate this revelation as quite possibly true. But as long as this is useful to Putin, we'll never know for sure.
