Richard W
air, Thai, you, I, BMW, Dr, function (programming languages), wai, OK Most of the English and Thai alphabets Most chemical elements India, America computer, web, farm jeep (sort of - /c/ for /j/), guard (on a train?), gas, Greek - but /k/ for /g/ If we allow /w/ for /v/: caravan Other similar words, allowing sloppy enough English: lift Coincidental sound-alikes: die/taai, Parker/paakaa

Richard W
If we ignore the vowel Thai inserts to break up the cluster, we have: sloop, steak, swing (the music), slang Except that I have been assured by some Thais that the /l/ is silent, we also have 'flat'. If we ignore the lack of aspiration in Thai: cock (= tap), copy, guitar (vowel length also different), classic (except that Thai has a long vowel) If we ignore dropped consonants, we get oodles more, but as I found 'Counterpain' unrecognisable with the 'n's dropped, they may not be valid. A less than obvious example seems to be phaen = 'plan'. 'E-mail' is just about recognisable. Can we count fim/film?
