Pattaya International Music Festival

i have never been so sick in my life and my wife is out of the country for work right now so, i'll be the first to say.... the broadcasting of this event live on TV makes it quite easy to still catch Sek sunday night. i know Aussiechick, this is 2 shows in a row that i've missed but, seriously, sick as a dog.

Don't worry I do not think I will go to Bali Hai to watch him either. Too many people for me and I would much rather see him close up and dangerous :)

I did hear he was supposed to be coming back to the sameplace he played last time - so will let you know!

We are going tonight for sure. I am sure it will be crazy, but we are hungry! And need some exercise walking around.

Where did he play last time? We were lucky to see Taxi up close and personal at Hard Rock a few months ago. No more than 100 people in the whole place and we had the front table. Great show. Here is wifey after we won 6 tickets to see Green Day in Bangkok. Another great show. Taxi was one of the nicest musicians I have ever met. Class act.

Question: If the Beach RD is closed for traffic how will it be organized for car owners to reach there Hotel ect at the Sois???

Access to available from Second Road. I believe you can go up and down the individual sois from Second Road but they dead-end at Beach Road. And access to Beach Road is blocked at the Dolphin Roundabout (unless maybe if you are staying at the Amari Hotel)

Great time tonight. Was fun for sure. Sek Loso tomorrow! We parked at the temple on South Pattaya and 2nd road. Walked all the way to soi 4. Then took scooter taxi back. Easy. Music was good and food was fantastic!

I was there again - saw Thaitanium - not really into hip hop but these guys blew me away!!!

craigt3365 - you are right - good food all the way down beach road - drink prices were cheap as well.

I haven't seen a problem anywhere - the crowds around central have been cool and friendly. I have enjoyed both nights.

Yeah, cheap drink prices....that's why I'm paying the price today! :)

Gotta love it here though. Where else can you watch live music, on the beach, and have people bring you cold beer/water for cheap...fantastic.

Does that refer to their private parts?

Of course not, only the money which comes attached, just call me Khun ATM

Nope, in answer to Tropo. It does look like I posted both, maybe I clicked something wrong. Just scroll up, it's not important. And why is it a dumn answer? Just a little joke, don't be so serious.

Pattaya Music Festival hailed a success

The three-day Pattaya Music Festival has, not surprisingly, been hailed a success by organizers. According to those charged with maintaining security at the event it was definitely the quietest as far as incidents within the concert areas were concerned with no arrests taking place during the entire festival. On Saturday afternoon and evening there were severe problems with traffic congestion in the central and south Pattaya areas, but this is only to be expected given the general infrastructure and the thousands of extra vehicles converging on the city. The Sunday night highlight, if it can really be called that, took place at the Bali Hai port stage where the extremely popular Thai rock star LoSo set fire to his guitar on stage. Hardly an Earth-shattering event, but it did draw wild scenes of appreciation from his predominantly teenage audience, who might never have seen such a thing before. Sensibly, LoSo waited until he had finished his set before commencing performing his incendiary act.

My wife's brother came in for this, so we went Sat and Sun. It was packed. Plenty of young Thais, but also lots of Thai families. Some farang, but not a lot.

We drove straight in from Jomtien around 7PM Saturday to the temple on South Pattaya. No traffic at all. Kinda unusual for 2nd road I thought. Saturday we parked near the go cart track. Again, no traffic when we got there at 8PM. Both nights left around 12:30 and no traffic on the way home. Maybe the traffic was headed to Suk?

Had a fight break out Sun, but security was on it in seconds. About 30 rushed in and took the guys away. Really kinda amazing. Other than that, it was really peaceful and a great time. Will go again next year for sure. The stages were great, well setup, and the sound system was perfect. Great event.
