My Thai wife is going to be having a baby at the end of this month :) at a government hospital in the south of Thailand. What paperwork as an English father do I require at,

a. The hospital at time of birth

b. At the local Ampur office to register the baby

Thanks in advance

The hospital should not require anything, other than the ID of both. They will just give a statement that a baby was born and who the parents are.

Take this to the amphur where the baby was born. You have to register the baby there within 15 days. You will need your ID, that of your wife and the hospital certificate. Also prepare the name of the child and that of yourself in Thai. The Thai birth certificate is in Thai, not English. Some want a translated copy of your passport ID-page.

The child will also need to be registered on a household book.

The child will have dual nationality and you can register the birth with the UK embassy and also apply for a British passport. Both countries allow dual nationality.
