Dependent Visa For Kiwi Spouse?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

My wife & I are coming to BK to teach in a couple months. I have a B.A, she has Celta but no degree so presumably won't be eligible for a wp. We pulled 5 years in Korea and R.O.K immi allowed her to stay as my dependent under the rubric of my E2 (teaching) visa. Does anyone know whether the same applies in Thailand? Advice and/or personal experience appreciated.

The 'Non-Immigrant O' seems to fit but always good to hear from those on site....btw, it's very unlikely that my monthly income will exceed 35,000 baht/month - wondering whether that'll compound the problem....

Be great to get a heads up from anyone in a similar position.

Cheers

I believe a work permit is available for those without BA at some schools - and any work without a WP would not be legal.

You would have to be here on a one year extension of stay to use the dependent provision. She would have to have/obtain a non immigrant O visa and then could extend to match yours.

If working at a educational institution there is no minimum salary requirement for an extension of stay. She can coma on a non-O visa as your dependent and get yearly extensions the same as you.

Cheers for that guys - great help.....

I'm thinking we'll probably both come in on a tourist visa and wing it from there. Good to hear that some schools are able to issue a wp without a degree, just may take a little time finding one for 'er indoors.
