Thai Language Schools--walen & Cmu

Featured Replies

I am considering either Walen or CMU to learn Thai.

I am confused on who gives a more in depth course for a beginner, and I would like to hear from students of both courses on the pros and cons of their experiences at these two institutes.

Thank you in advance.

you need to learn the Thai alphabet before you go to Walen else you are wasting your time.

gaw gai, kaw kai, etc

sara a, sara e, etc

If you are joining a group class at Walen i would certainly agree that to learn the thai alphabet first would be better as they don't really teach that much about actual reading.I learnt mostly how to read thai from an online/also downloadable thai english dictionary programme. The first few lessons are wasted if you dont know much about the alphabet and to many is very off putting when they begin book one.As for individual tuition with them i can't comment.

Pu, which program?

Thai2English. just google it because i'm not sure i'm allowed to put a link to it on thaivisa.you can use the web version or download a free version and then upgrade to a paid version which then activates copying and pasting.I found it very useful.
