Has anyone ever tried it, it's real good! I know beer here is cheap, well no sorry now thinking about it, not really, it used to be cheap when the baht was 76 to the pound. But now to knock back a few suds can cost you heavily. Even more so if you bar fine some hot chicks.

Do you like the taste of home brew? I made a few batches once, was sick instantly with a few. A small fruit fly managed to get in and the whole thing was vineger. A real shame, especially since I invited loads of people around for the sampling. A lot were sick that night actually. Lost loads of good buds that night. But I have learnt from my mistakes, and now can brew a nice hearty beer. I even give the left overs to the Thai dogs that hang around my condo. They seem to like it and I'm able to get a good nights sleep too.

All hail for the ALE!

So to relate the two . . . if you're brewing your own beer to save money are you going to make shandy by hand also?

I brew beer is big 30 litre containers. I usually have 2 on the go. But if it goes bad, all the hard work is to waste. But if it works, its great because you know that your drinking your own love, and it's cheap, also I've been sick because of getting drunk and my sick didn't taste too bad.

Wine.

End of.

Still haven't done it. Think it's a bit dodgy out here, but at my house the only people that'll drink it will be the coppers anyway.

Bit of a wine poof me. But it's so expensive here . . . cuppa tea. I bought 4# 10 gallon drums from the local hardware store. Got 'em real cheap.

Full of pesticide residue!

I love wine too when I'm home in the UK. So don't worry about that. Yes it is expensive.

I think I had the same problem with my containes. I and my friends were real sick because of buying second hand. Never again.

They're used for containing emergency bog water now.

I gave up after that . . . and had a nice cuppa tea . . . and mowed the lawn. I also prunned a hedge.

These aren't sexual inuendos by the way. I actually mowed the lawn and . . . prunned a hedge.

Really. :)

You should try raking the gutters.....

I need to before (if) the rains come. Are we going off-topic? Anyway, I need a ladder first. I had a ladder, but as usual one of these folks 'borrowed' it, it's no wonder tool hire shops are as rare as unicorn poop round these 'ere parts.

So now I need to buy another ladder. Cost near 4000 Baht. I was going to make a ladder out of rubber tree wood, but then considered the myriad of things that could possibly go wrong . . . like gravity.

I have got some bamboo scaffolding knocking about, but they are all short lenghts now due to my weight keep breaking them in half, still they come in for making a nice set of bamboo ladders.

You got a price on bamboo window blinds? 1.5x1.5m.

Closest I can get is 1250.

Got an old boy, weaves baskets, round the corner looking at making some. I just know this is going to be a complete fiasco.

Believe it or not...beer is harder to make than wine.

Your mantra must be sterilize, and sterilize again for the container and tubing you use.

One bad bacterium in the air entering your brew mix....and you just made a lot of cheap sour vinegar instead of beer.

Your system must be AIRTIGHT so nothing can get into it from outside.

Use plastic hose for your tubing and seal all airtight with wax and rubber seals where the tubing passes through...and everything must exit...the CO2 that escapes in the fernemtation process I mean...must bubble out through a water lock system. No outside air must be allowed to get in to your brew mix that is fermenting. If air from outside gets in, your likely to make vinegar not beer.

Think double clean and sterilized on everything. Extra effort on being sterile and airtight keeps you making beer not vinegar.

Don't let your mix ferment too fast...keep it out of direct heat while it is fermenting. It should be in a warm but not in a hot place.

Always use a waterlock system, the CO2 from the fermenting mix keeps positive pressure from inside and it is bubbled out through a container of water. That way no air from outside gets into your mix. Very important not to let it enter inside the container.

Of course, you are making beer only for your own use, and would NEVER SELL IT. Otherwise it isn't legal, is it?

:D
