Change Of Policy On Consecutive 15 Day Entries ?

Featured Replies

Sawasdee Khrup, TV Friends,

Until now I assumed that Mae Sai only allowed you two consecutive 15 day entries within a six months period.

Having screwed myself out of my second-entry of a double-entry visa by an overstay, I have been delaying going back to Vientiane until (as confirmed here recently by Khun Lopbhuri3) on April 1 double-entries are supposed to be free again.

I checked with Chiang Mai immigration on Friday (19th.), and they assured me that getting a third fifteen day would not be a problem in Mae Sai. Having been through the usual ups and downs over the years with Thai immigration offices, I could only hope this was true.

So, with some anxiety, I went to Mae Sai yesterday (21st.) for a third 15-day: surprise, no problem.

Has there been a change of policy in this area, or did I just get "luck of the draw," for a change ?

By the way, I note that Tuesday, April 6, if a holiday for the Thai government (Chakri Day) : do you think the Vientiane offices will be "swamped" on Monday, April 5 ?

thanks, ~o:37;

There has never been any such policy. Under the old system (before 15 day entry by land) there was a limit but since they started the 15 day visa exempt by land it has been unlimited - but after four such entries you may have to answer a few questions about employment.
