Insurance For Over 65's

Featured Replies

My Grandad plans to come and visit me sometime this year from the UK. From what he says a major obstacle is getting insured at his age. Apparently most companies just won't touch him. He is 80 and still going strong although he has had heart surgery along with GI surgery in the past few years, despite this he is still doing very well and has no immediate health problems.

So, can any of more aged members recommend any travel insurance that would be suitable?

Thanks

Just done a search using these words 'UK travel insurance for over 80's' and ther's a few companies he can check out.

I didnt go into any sites but i reckon insurance at his age won't come cheap.

Also check out World Nomads Ins.

I have had similar problems with car insurance for my parents both over 80 theres no easy way.

My mother gets her holiday health insurance from the Post Office.

I'm not sure whether they have a maximum age limit (Mum is 73).

The application forms were quite easy to complete and not too many questions about previous medical history.

UK Post Office holiday insurance

Just read the info page - all ages are covered (but over 75's need to call a freephone number - presumably to give medical history and get an individual quote).

Medical cover up to 10,000,000 GBP - should be sufficient.

Good luck

My Mum 72 and Dad 83 fly to Thailand every year for a month's holiday with me. They use their Westpac Gold Card to book their flight, it covers them for everything for 3 months.

'Help the Aged' and 'Saga' offer OAP's insurance cover in the U.K. at decent rates.
