Indians held for robbing Australian

BANGKOK: -- Police arrested two Indian men yesterday and accused them of luring an Australian to a Bangkok apartment with promises of sex, but instead robbing him.

Officers raided a room at Boss Mansion on Rama IV Road on Thursday and found the 54-year-old Australian man, whose name was withheld, naked and handcuffed. He said he had been lured there through a Net chat room.

Colonel Damrongsak Kitti-prapas, commander of Klong Tan police station, said undercover police had been staking out the Indians after security guards tipped off police that the two often caused trouble and acted suspiciously. The two had no passports but were tentatively identified as Samad, 26, and Sauraj, 27.

Damrongsak said that plainclothes police saw Samad return to his apartment with a Caucasian on Thursday but he soon left to withdraw money from an ATM. They followed him and searched the room, where they found the Australian. He told police he had made contact with Samad in a Net chat room, and met him at Phrom Phong Skytrain station.

When they got to Boss Mansion, Sauraj was in the room and offered group sex. The man agreed and took a shower, after which he was robbed of Bt2,000, handcuffed and forced to give his credit card PIN number.
