Govt intellectual property centres hailed as success

BANGKOK: -- A nationwide intellectual property rights service was hailed today as a resounding success, with the director-general of the Department of Intellectual Property expressing optimism that the service centres would see a boost in patent registrations.

Speaking six months after the launch of the first intellectual property service centres, Mr. Kanissorn Navanukroh said that they enabled members of the public to contact provincial commerce offices quickly and easily.

Voicing optimism that the centres would see a surge in patent registrations this year, he said that his department had also modified its telephone helpline service to better address the needs of the public, allowing callers to speak directly to government officials.
