Visa For Ex-bar Girl

Featured Replies

When I submitt the application for settlement visa do you have to pay the fee and if so how much and how can you send the money.

When it comes to interview time, do I need to be present with my wife?

And when questions are asked about previous employment from her what should she say, should she say we met by bar, and that, that is what she worked before, or would that not be a good idea?

Thanks!

Westybrook,

The fee is £260 payable in local currency and the embassy sets its own rate of about 75 baht to the £. Cash is the preferred option although they may accept a locally drawn banker's draft. You'll have to cheque that out with the embassy, though. You don't need to be present when your wife is interviewed.

With regard to your wife's previous employment, the answer is it depends. The fact that you met in such circumstances does not really adversely effect your wife's chances. However, if the visa officer is going to refuse your wife's application then, yes, he will throw in the fact that she used to work in such an establishment, purely for the purpose of undermining her credibility. Going by the information you have given, though, I don't think the visa officer will be thinking of refusing the application unless you fail to meet the support/accommodation angle.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Since scouser has gotten involved (and refers to information given), it's obvious you're applying for the UK, where there is nothing in the rules against it.

However, the same question when applying for a US visa would have a completely different answer. (although - you can tell that much just from the questions on the US visa application form)

Thanks guys for all this help, by the way how have you come to aquire all this knowledge. Do you yourself have thai wifes and so you have gone through this before.

Question: If I was successful in bringing my wife and baby over in the near future and sadly needed to claim any benifits (nobody knows the future) would this be possible, and if so, what could be claimed. I really dont want to claim for the whole 2 years and after this, but sometimes problems happen in life where you need some support from the goverment. Could she be entitled to anything if the worst came to worse?

Thanks again guys!

getting the visa won't be the problem. enjoy your roller coaster ride. I'm sure she's different though.
