We're taking Mr chickencurry's truck in for a service later this week but he thinks there's something wrong with the differential. Can anyone provide the Thai word for this? My dictionary hasn't got it. I've tried an online dictionary but it's not coming up with the right meaning. Bit of a tricky one.

เฟืองท้าย

Can you do me a favour and give it to me in Roman alphabet? I haven't looked at my Thai language books for a little while now so I'm a bit rusty on the characters. cheers.

You are going to need someone else's help. I don't know the Roman alphabet representation of Thai.

Romanization is tricky because the letters of the Roman alphabet and its combinations are pronounced differently by different people.

The word เฟือง can not be rendered properly using English sounds, the mechanic may be good at interpreting incorrect pronunciation but maybe not...

I'd recommend bringing a picture such as the one posted, and point to the right part.

I have also heard the term "diff" ดิฟ used too... same as the English word.

Not to be confused with ดิฟท์ (which sounds the same) and means drift.

But I think it is only used by people who are into the tuning/modifying scene...

Get down on your hands and knees and point to the thing, it should be easy enough if its a truck as it should be high off the floor. I'm sure he will understand. :)
