Options For 90 Day Reporting

Featured Replies

My local immigration office is Sakon Nakhon but I plan to spend long, indefinate periods in south Thailand, whilst retaining my home address. Is the 90 day mail reporting option viable under these circumstances without changing address or immigration office?

Section 37 of the Immigration Act allows you to mail the notification “in accordance with the regulations prescribed by the Director General”, the only problem being that we don’t have the “regulations prescribed by the Director General”.

At some immigration offices, when you ask they say that you must bring the form in person. If you don’t ask and just mail it, they are bound to accept it. Send it by registered mail or EMS, so that you have a receipt. I believe EMS allows you to track it online and you will see on what date they sign for it. Remember the franked return envelope.

I have always mailed my 90 day report, first to Nan, then to Phitsanulok (after the new office opended) I send, by EMS, a copy of my passport with all relevant pages, the report form (and one copy) and a self addressed stamped envelope. Never had a problem and the turnaround time has always been less than a week.

Submit a TM28 form to the local Police or Immigration with a explanation as to why you are reporting in another jurisdiction.

No, this will not be a substitute for the notification to immigration of staying in the country longer than 90 days.
