7by7 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Effective for all ILR applications submitted on or after 7th April 2010, those taking an ESOL with citizenship course must have sat that course at an accredited college. If you or your partner are currently sitting such a course then you should make sure the establishment you attend meets the new requirements without delay. See Changes to the 'knowledge of language and life' requirement for settlement for full details. These changes apply only to those sitting an ESOL with citizenship course; the provisions for those taking a LitUK test are unchanged. Before anyone asks, the KOL requirement applies to those applying for settlement, e.g. ILR, when they are already in the UK with some other form of visa, such as a spouse visa. It does not apply to those making their initial settlement visa application in Bangkok (ILE excepted, of course).
