Non-immigrant Visa Timeframe For Use?

Featured Replies

I have a non-immigrant multiple entry business visa beginning in June. Typically, I've arrived within a day or two of my visa starting. This year I'm planning on taking an extended "lay-over", since I happen to need to be in the vicinity of the protests.

The point of contact at my consulate has taken some time off, so I'm hoping someone can provide some guidance. Is there a timeframe when I first need to enter using my visa? E.g. within 30 days, 45 days? Or am I free to enter as I wish, with the understanding that it still expires from the date issued?

A visa can not be issued with an advance starting date so believe you need to take a look at the visa. They always start on date of issue and a multi entry would normally have a validity of one year from that date. Each entry allows a 90 day stay.

Thank you. Yes, you're correct.

This will be my first time where work isn't taking me in and out of the country, I'll need to be a bit more diligent and plan accordingly.
