Thai Tourist Visa Question

Featured Replies

I am a bit confused. I got a 60-day Tourist Visa in Laos on Mar. 10th and when I entered back into Thailand they stamped my Departure Card as being Valid until May 8 (approx. 60 Days.

However, they only stamped the Visa in my passport with the Thai Seal and did not mark it as USED. The Visa says I have until June 8th to use the Visa. The only other stamp which is on the same passport page but not on the Visa itself is 10 MAR 2010 (the day I entered Thailand from Laos).

I have had a number of visa's before and they always mark them as USED. I am trying to figure out if I somehow will be able to use this Visa before June 8th if I leave before May 8th which is on my departure card.

Maybe I am missing something here but it appears they have given me a 60-day non-visa entry permit instead of the 30-days.

Can anybody help shed any light on this? I may have to fly out in the next week and really would like to know my options. If I still have a valid visa when I return I can get away with paying for a one way flight instead of a round trip and cancelling the return.

hi,

i'm no expert but it sounds like you have a double entry visa which means that you can use it 2 times (on the visa dooes it say number of entries 2 ?)- they will stamp it as used on your second entry.

maybe your previous visas were single ones ?

i don't understand what your travel plans are - send some more info and maybe can help you ?

Nope, you had your 60 day entry and that's all the visa entitles you to (if it is a single entry one!).

There is no such thing as a 60 day visa free stay, and even if immigration gave you a 60 day stamp when entering without a visa, you would still be held responsible for an overstay fine if you would remain in Thailand longer then 30 days!

I would actually advise you to go to immigration and make sure they entered your stay properly in the immigration computer section. If not, they might rise an eyebrow when leaving Thailand, and while I doubt you would have to pay for overstay as you did hold a proper visa, it might create delays and even might make you miss your flight out!

Duhhh ... thanks and sorry guys. I completely forgot I got a double entry.

LOL! Good one! And by the way tourist visa's are still free, due to the Thai economic stimulus deal. Unlike my O-A visa extension. 1,900 Bht a year plus 1,000 Bhat for a single re-entry permit or 3,900 for a mutli re-entry permit. But I haven't had to do a visa run in over four years now...
