Chamchuri Square 90 Day Report Update

Featured Replies

Chamchuri Square Immigration - Went there today trying to do a 90 day report of address. I got to the office 25 minutes before they closed. I was the only non-employee in this massive office that takes up half the floor of a new skyscraper in Bangkok at Sam Yam intersection. I saw the window for 90 day reports and handed the lady my paperwork. The first thing she did was ask me why I didn't get a queue number. I looked around the office at the vast emptiness of chairs and just apologized for not getting a queue number. Then she checked my last extension and said that since my extension wasn't done by that office I could not do my 90 day report there. So instead of going to an office about 10km from where I live, that is virtually empty most of the time, I have to get up early tomorrow and go to the new Bangkok Immigration office on Chaeng Wattana Road over 30km from where I live. The lady said they used to do them for anyone who lived in Bangkok but a new law requires you go to the same office that processed your last visa extension. Got to love those Bureaucrats. :):D

The office at Chamchuree Square is not an immigration office, but a BOI facility. In the past they have kindly handled 90 day reporting for non-BOI employees resident in Bangkok but, with the move of the main immigration office from Suan Phlu to Chaeng Wattana, they have become swamped with volume and is impacting on service to BOI companies that pay specifically for that facility. The change in rules happened around 8th March and has been covered extensively in the forum. You could alternatively mail in your 90 day report to Chaeng Wattana (if would arrive by the due reporting date) or use that service in the future.

I am currently due for my 90 day report. The last time - in early February - I went to Chamchuree Square. I heard some rumours this may no longer be possible. Has anyone recent experience in optaining 90 Day Report at Chamchuree ? Please advise.

Nothing has changed since posts #1 and #2. Chamchuree Square is now only providing services to BOI companies. Unless you are an employee of a BOI company, you will need to go to/mail-in your 90 day report to Chaeng Wattana.

Question: I need to do my 90 Day report - in theory tomorrow, Wednesday. I live in Bangkok - Nana area.

Are Immigrations open? and where?

No. They will be closed until Monday. Chiang Watanna is the place to report if you obtained an extension of stay there.

I used to live in Samui but have moved to Bkk now.

Should i report to Chaeng Wattana or can i go to Pratunam office?

Must go tomorrow.

If you now live in Bangkok, you should go to Cheang Wattana. make sure you take proof of address with you, to proof you moved and now need to report to Bangkok.

Thank you so much for your quick reply :)

Is a rental contract enough or do i need anything else?

That should be enough.

OK then, how about this true life experience. I am on a Non-Im B type visa, 3 extensions done at Suan Phlu, where the original visa was issued. 1st 90 day report done at Suan Phlu, then the Immigration Office moved to Chaeng Wattana, where I did my 2nd 90 day report. I then heard about the BOI center at Chamchuree Square, where I was able to do my last (3rd) 90 day report. The 4th one was due on the 17th, but circumstances in BKK took a turn for the worse as we all know.

Obviously, I need to report tomorrow to stay within the +/- 7 days of the report date.

Best place to go would be??

Cheers....

Man its going to be nuts at Chaeng Wattana tomorrow. Ill see you guys there!

You must use Chiang Watanna for 90 day reports.

I did and it *totally* sucked!!! Something like 4 hours to do a simple 90 day report which used to take me no more than about 30 minutes when it was at Suan Phlu.

What is the purpose of the 90 day report requirement anyways? Is there some really huge map room somewhere that they plot all of these locations on using push pins or something? Seems like it is a *total* "make work project" dreamed up by some dumb-assed police general to keep people on the payroll...

And what day did you do it? Normally less than 30 minutes in my experience. If you did this week, after a week of closure, expect it would be much longer.

The rule is from the current immigration act published about 30 years ago. Strict enforcement is likely the result of international actions (terrorism) more than local desires.

The whole thing's another big pain in the *ss! A totally dumb exercise in pure futility!

Not sure how this BS can help any with so-called "terrorism. " Seems the main underlying motivation for enforcing this BS is it's yet another chance for cops to squeeze some 'late penalty' moolah from falang!  :)
