I was at one of the protests, just looking about a few weeks back and on stage someone was talking about Farangs... i heared them say that farangs dont understand.. blah blah and heared a mention of patpong and "farang kee nok" said a couple of times.

My Thai is not good but I knew there was some resentment from the red leaders.

At that point the farang cameraman left the stage.

Does anyone remember that and what that was about exactly?

Based on what i have heard from thai people, both reds and business middle class thais,Their main problem is with Farang business people in Bangkok only. They feel that they try to act like hi-so thais and are not nice people.

I feel the reds definately want the farangs with businesses in Bangkok to go,but have no problems with the retirees who have worked all their lives to retire here and actualy visit the poorer areas of Thailand

I loathe the 'Red Sirts' raison detre Taksin, however here in Thailand parties/groups/mobs of every colour and stripe play the xenophobic card. But I did notice a distinct lack of response from the PAD rally participants when rather unsavoury anti foreigner remarks were made, references to 'Tesco' etc, and embarrassment every time some twit on stage said something along the lines of 'we are Thai! We eat Thai food!' etc. I mean, who did he think he was talking to? Red shirts? :)

it's not their policy, but sometimes on the stage anything can be said - so no, no reds against farangs.

judging from the warm welcome to all the foreigners during protests, it might be an opposite

Reminds me of a quote....

Patriotism is usually stronger than class hatred, and always stronger than internationalism.
