Please change the topic to "Multiple Passports", not "Multiple Visa"

I have heard of people traveling with multiple passports, and using one or the other when entering or leaving a country, and how one Passport can be much easier to use than another because you don't need a VISA. Here is a question my friend asked me. His wife is from Ukraine. She is now married to my friend and is here in the USA. She has a Russian and a USA passport.

They are thinking she can leave the USA on a Russian Passport, and that will make it easy to get into Russia. They are then wondering if she can leave Russia on her USA passport, so that no Visa is needed when returning to the USA. Can they do something like that or similar to that? I think their goal is to avoid the Visa application timelines because their travel plans are not firm, and they want the flexibility.

Thanks

Your friend has got it mixed up. You enter and leave the country on the passport of that country if you have dual passports. i.e. his wife would enter and leave the USA on the US passport and enter and leave Russia on the Russian passport.
