It may also be worth getting an online quote from Thaivisa car hire. They operate via Fastcar in the UK. Fastcar recently arranged a hire for me with Budget and I got a good discount on the price on the Budget Thailand site. The insurance had a zero excess. What I liked most was that one-way hires were available (over I think 3 days) at no extra charge.
