Please can someone tell me as an Englishman married to a Thai National, what are the rquirements regarding registering our marriage with the Immigration in Phuket and do I require 8 or 4,000Baht on application. We were married in the Amphur Office in Kathu.

You register the Marriage at the Amphur not Immigration.

To apply for an Extension to a Visa based on Marriage you need 400,000baht in a Thai Bank for 2 or 3 months.

Others will give more formal information.

If you were married abroad, you have to go to your embassy to have the marriage certificate legalised, next you have it translated into Thai and than go to the Thai foreign office, consular section to have it legalised by them. Than you have have to go to an amphur to have the marriage listed in teh Thai registers. You than ask for the Kor ror 2 form, which proofs that you have it registerd and show that to immigration.

Once you are registered as married at any District Office you are married. Suspect, as above poster, you are asking about extension of your stay from Immigration. For that you and wife must visit local Immigration office with proof of 40k per month income (you) or 400k in Thai bank account for 2 months. You do this during the last 30 days of your permitted to stay and it will require a shopping list of documents/copies including the the marriage certificate and ledger copy.
