Stay Or Leave Your Home In The Center Of Bangkok?

From the headlines today, things could soon turn nasty in the center of Bangkok.

So if you are living in Ratchadamri, Chitlom or Langsuan are you planning to stay or leave as advised by the goverment?

I stocked up on food and water and plan to stay, but if they cut power, I am out of here.

Is there any clear indication as to how this water and electricity supply cut off is going to be implemented, and what effect it will have on the intended target? Like sanctions, very often these measures affect those least intended with more hardship.

Well them mentioned residents but as usual they didn't to what points will the power be cut-off.

I have a few friends that live in those area mentioned by the OP, just wondering if the Govt will put everyone up in some of the empty hotels around the city while they cut the power and water?

Which shouldn't take long. :)

Protestors will not be too perturbed. They are used hardend northerners. The well heeled and middle class will be the suffer and counted as collateral damage by the government. Another poorly conceived plan and will only harden the Reds resolve. When will AV learn that bilateral actions are ineffective. Negotiate!!!! pseeee

Mate, go to the Newsclipping for politics. We are talking about shutting down power and water here.

In case electricity is cut it's going to be hot, very hot plus the heat of possible fight and barricades burning, smoke ... etc.. Nothing mentioned about what was said to the Embassies affected. They may have jumped plans and keep the residents confused. After all, most are farangs or farang owned apartments/condos and they don't like them either.

they also will be cutting off phones, water and any kind of traffic to and fro. Not a good feeling to be around there.

Morning dawn and we still have power and water. From my view of Ratchadamri the situation looks unchanged, still a few pick-up trucks driving around.

Someone senior from the electricity company spoke on the red stage last night and said they would not be cutting the power, also I believe the government backtracked last night on cutting the power. This information I got from this forum, I think in the daily news thread.

Just another false dawn, another proposed crackdown that filters out to nothing. The hub of threatened crackdowns.

Good luck for those still in the area. I was on Soi mahadlek luang 1, and I'm glad I left the area for the time being. With electirity and the Internet it was still tolerable. I was supposed to come back next week but if access remains problematic I'll postpone.

I got out yesterday morning. Pretty much the only car driving up Wireless road just before noon.

Hope the condo don't get re-decorated with bullet holes!

"Sound like we will be sealed off from the outside world tonight..."

It's been a couple days. Was it nearly as bad as you thought it would be? Since the reds have their own generators, cutting off power to the buildings would not accomplish anything. Cutting off water would put the entire area at risk for fires.
