I am interested in hearing some of your stranger Bar stories.. the unusual people you met in beer bars in Thailand, and their stories, for fact is stranger than fiction.

(NOTE: It is regrettable that the political turmoil seems to be escalating, so perhaps it is time to take a break from "reality".)

A Vietnam Vet I met in a bar in Pattaya in 2007 told me he came to Pattaya in 1974 after the war ended, and has NEVER returned to the U.S., but just stayed in Thailand all that time.. HUH??? He gave me advice..NEVER marry a Thai lady, just RENT them..

( sound familiar??)..lucky i didn't take his advice..HIS story of note??

Story 1.This same fellow told me that a farang he knew quite well had married a GUY by accident.. (after a bunch of beers.. to hear this was hilarious and we had a good laugh over it)..he said the "guy" had a sex change to become a "woman", but the farang ( who was apparently somewhat homophobic ) was blissfully unaware of that fact..in effect..he had married a "guy".

Story 2. A 69 year old farang in another bar in Pattaya told me he had TEN Thai gf's, for he was an inveterate butterfly, AND he said he probably had the largest stash of VIAGRA in L.O.S.

Story 3. A fellow who is now a friend of sorts told me a story so outrageous, but true about himself.. that I cannot divulge it, else it may incriminate him.. for all i know he may read it on TV

I found the story below on barladies.com a few years back. Kinda made me laugh:

A warning. I had a regular tgf last year who like all of them was resisting my kiss goodby to her when i wanted to end our relationship. to cut a long story short she ended up putting a beer bottle through a tv screen and we where off to the monkey house(cop shop if you dont know). After talking with the room owner and police captain about paying the cost of tv, the nice little girl said to the cop,"he have picture of me, I want memory card from his camers". I am sure the cops eyes lit' up. well it ended up me being threatened with a court case accused of have indecent pictures in my possetion, or paying a "fine" of 80.000bt. I had to give the police my passport, ended up missing my flight and staying another month. Did you guys know, if the police make you stay over your visa time they will still fine you the overstay fine for every day.

So if you and g/f are happy, snap away, just dont fall out and end up in the monkey house like I did.

I don't believe this is actually a crime in Thailand, the relevant section of law mentions trade or distribution, without proving that intent ..... no crime.

Section 287 of Thai Penal Code “Whoever (1) for the purpose of trade of trade or by trade, for public distribution or exhibition, makes, produces, possesses, brings or causes to be brought into the kingdom, sends or causes to be sent out of the kingdom, brings or causes to bring, or spreads by any means whatever, any document, drawing, print, painting, printed matter, picture, poster, symbol, photograph, cinematograph film, audio or video tape or any other thing which is obscene, (2) carries on trade, or takes part or participates in the trade concerning the aforesaid obscene material or thing, distributes or exhibits to the public, or hires out such material or thing; (3) in order to assist the circulation or trading of the aforesaid obscene material or thing, advertises or spreads the news by any means whatsoever that there is a person committing the act which is an offence according to this Section, or advertises or spreads the news that the aforesaid obscene material or thing may be obtained from any person or by any means, shall be punished with imprisonment not exceeding three years or fine not exceeding six thousand baht, or both.”

A guy I met in Chiang Mai told me that he had recently arrived from Buriram where his TGF had booted him out of the house he had recently had built for them to live in. Turned out that whilst he was back in the States, she changed all the locks and invited her real Thai BF to live with her. When he returned, she threw his remaining stuff out of the window and told him to p*ss off! Went to the police, but they weren't interested.

I thought it sounded a tad far fetched, but he was so sad in telling me this tale that I ended up believing it. Poor old sucker was coming back to spend the rest of his life with the woman of his dreams only to find her shacked up with a Thai dude in the house that he had paid for. Ouch.

i can relate.. was in a hotel with Thai lady several years back.. she went into the washroom and came out high as a kite..( yaa baa)

..I told her to leave.. she refused and went ballistic.. so i left the room and told the American hotel manager (Hotel at Jomtien Beach).. meanwhile she stole the DVD from the room and took off..

.. the manager wanted to charge me with theft..

..lucky I knew a volunteer Thai policeman in Pattaya..i phoned him and he came and "rescued me"..

.. i too ended up in the "monkey house".. looking at photos with my police friend on the internet of ladies who were known as scammers for sucker farang like I was that night... sure enough she was on their "watch list"..

.. it was surreal.. about 10 police on motorcycles went with us to her apartment.. but she wasn't there ( this at about 3 am in the morning)

..needless to say i ended up giving the policeman friend a 2000 baht "tip"
