Identifying Tree

Have been living next to this tree for the last 6 years, but I've never seen this fruit/seed before. Beautiful shape and color, but I've haven't got a clue what it's called.

This is a member of the plant family Sterculiaceae, genus Sterculia, in Thai it is called เกาลัด

Big tip on this one,don't handle the seed pod when brown and dry.You can see a fine white line inside the open pod in your shot,

when dry this turns to fibreglass like needles about 3mm. long,a real b--ch to get out the skin.Stunning colour though.
