utapaortnab
Well, It's time to start searching for a long term lease apartment, condo or home in Pattaya Beach. While we will more than likely still use Lat's home in Chiayaphum as our permanent resident and will most likely be spending more days each month there than in any other "single" location, we will for sure be spending more time in Pattaya than any other location outside Chiayaphum. As as that is a given, we have decided it may be cheaper to find an apartment, condo, house in Pattaya to take on a long term lease (under 12,000 baht/mo. but better if under 10,000 baht) and sign a year's lease, than to pay 1,000 baht/night for say 10-12 nights/month. That way we will have a place to leave some of our clothes and "stuff" and be able to really travel light on all trips back and forth. So, here is what we'd be looking for. A one or two bedroom apartment, condo, house in Pattaya (west of Sukhumvit) or Jomtien (west of Sukhumvit) or Naklua on the beach side of Naklua Rd anywhere from N. Pattaya Rd, (dolphin circle) to Wongamat Beach. If any of our members know of rental property that "may" suit our needs, please advise. Dragonman
Hi Ken. Don't get that much nowadays for 12000 baht or less, only very small studios. Try www.siamgardencourt.com most people moved out when they were doing the main road, but all finished now. Reasonable location not far from Jomtien Beach and straight road to Sukhumvit.12000 baht gets you a 2 bedroom appartment. If you want to sign a long term lease could probably negotiate it down. Guest MisterFacts
Actually 12.000 baht a month gives you a lot now-a-days. You shouldn't listen to many of these extremely bad advices given on this forum. But a few people here are okay, but only a very few. Okay, back to reality. There are numerous of places where you can rent a condo for 4000-6000 baht a month (+1 month's) deposit. Utilities run in about 1000-2000 baht a month. These places have security, new big tv and big new fridge and remote controlled air-conitioning. And of course Sophon Cable-tv with 60 channels (many english movie-channel included). And you don't even have to sign a contract for more than 1 month. Most of these DON'T have internet-sites (90 percent don't!). Also never pay more than 500 baht a night for a room like this. Try f.ex. Opal mansion, Second Road, soi 8 (not soi 8 , Beach Road!). Or Jade Place, Beach Road, soi 1. Or if you want swimmingpool, try Holiday Mansion, Third Road, soi 13 - about 8000 baht a month, also many places near the north end of Third Road. But there are MANY MANY places for MUCH MUCH less than 12.000 baht!!!!!!!!!!!! Also you can rent a whole house with 3 bedrooms e.t.c. for about 5000 baht a month, if you don't mind staying 2-3 km from the city (on the other side of Sukhumvit road, which devides Pattaya from the beach.). There are many private adds for this, look outside at Foodland, Central Pattaya Road for adds. Hope this helps a little, but don't worry, just go to Pattaya and NEVER pay more than 12.000 baht a month for anything. Michael, Denmark.
Guest MisterFacts
And yes, this is my first post, but I usually only surf these pages to get a cheap laugh about how bad advices are here (but there is a few really good advices too, but they can be hard to filtrate for a newbie). Anyway, the previous advice was so bad, that I just had to be a member of this forum and hopefully help other newbies on this forum. Anyway, forget all about intersites, booking e.t.c. when you go to Thailand. It is cheap and you can always find anything you want for your budget and thai-people are in common neither worse or better than most native people in Europe. PS! I've been living in Thailand for 6 years. Edited June 12, 2005 by MisterFacts

Steady on Mister Facts, I don't think Dragon Man deserved that kind of a beating for his advice, he was only trying to help the guy and pointed him to a web-site that would be able to help. I'm personally glad someone like you has joined the site, as any advice you can give after having 6 years experience in Pattaya will be greatly appreciated by many members including myself but please keep the nature of your replies good hearted. If you had bothered to read the post I said you are able to get small studios and rooms such as you mentioned. However the request seemed to be for what appeared a one or two bedroom property. Nowhere was a studio or room mentioned. As for the 3 bedroom house in Pattaya at 5000 baht please give me the address as it must be derelict. As for Sukhumvit dividing Pattaya from the beach, you must be living in a different Pattaya to me
