Just seen an excellent interview on Channel NewsAsia from Singapore on Sophon about the current situation in Thailand. A resident correspondent was being interviewed(sounded like an Aussie) and he gave a very fair and accurate assessment of the what is happening here in Thailand. I thoroughly recommend it to any other people like myself who are fed up with the shallow and biased reporting from the BBC and other Western media who have been swayed by the Thaksin global PR machine and accepted the simplistic bull that it's only about 'restoring democracy' and 'the rural poor versus the Bangkok elite'.

This guy explained that the trouble by no means engulfed the whole of Thailand, only certain very specific locations, chosen for maximum international impact by the Reds - city centre, tourist hotel areas etc - and that the government were doing their very best to avoid unnecessary conflict and deaths.
