I don't think the government actually went through with shutting off the water. Yikes. I think the Brit thought he was in the Jungle Safari in Disneyland and was just playing the part? What a nut-bag. Also very typical of the Thai government to jump on first sight of circulating videos. Is there actual coverage of farangs starting the fire(s)? MrJah
I think the British guy heard someone else talk about setting fire and then repeated the words, as heard in the video. Now he's going to be used as a scapegoat. I've seen some video footage on Thai channels showing a Thai guy setting fire to CentralWorld, but haven't been able to find the video anywhere online. I'm sure others saw it as well. Not sure though if that's one of the fires they extinguished or if it's the one that then made the entire building go up in flames. But yeah, good job. Blame the farangs for the problems. That will bring the tourists back. you call yourself clown, how appropriate.
mongoose11
obviously you've never been to court or even the police station to have to answer of things you just said . and I mean in a western country. When the words are recorded ( in my case, in writing, but a video would have done nicely) you suddenly understand the meaning of " deep sh*t" and the usefulness of a costly solicitor. Then you're in for a lot of money and a lot of time and energy. and then I knew exactly what a "fair" hearing means : I could make my point about as much as dog crap under the sole of the prosecutor.I got out without a conviction thanks to my lawyer ; he had advised me : " don't try to show your side of the story, you'd only upset him". Justice is a BIG machine . Point taken again - Although by highlighting "fair" - It was meant in an - well - influential sense - hence your point. whiterussian
Yeah, Thais, please don't scapegoat westerners for the crimes of the red shirts. Its really not fair. Which Thai's are you appealing to in this post? The 'redshirts' make up a good percentage of the population. Or did at the last general election... Seems daft to have such hatred for such a large %age of Thai's. Roll on elections- when a good chunk of TVisa posters may be posting messages attacking the 'red' govt! Haaaha that would be so sweet! (regardless of the virtues of the reds or yellows). So now, the govt have x months to - rewrite the military written constitution to a version closer to the multi party written one, i suppose it doesnt allow 'coups' as easily etc.(just guessing). Maybe we should ask Aung San Suu Kyi what the piece of paper said, I can't be bothered to read it. - work out which parties are allowed to run - work out what judges can and cant do, seeing as everybody has donors and 'bribes' in modern politics. - figure out a way to have elections, but avoid recriminations if/when the reds win. tick tock tick tock. - have a reshuffle so the reds cant shuffle their preferred people. (Surely there is a way to make this apolitical in the future? - but that requires separation of powers/rule of law) - the circle jerk continues in 2011, when PAD throw toys out of the pram, and demand minority rule! The good news for the govt of the future is that head shots and live fire is now acceptable! or of course the yellows could splash the cash and buy the hearts and minds a la Thaksin's populist policies, and good old fashioned vote buying. Might be a bit late now though. dam_n this 'war on terror' - its turned the world upside down, that and the dehumanisation of govts into financial conduits of international banking elites/billionaires (maybe it was always this way). Chinese vassal kingdom? That is the question. Let's hope the Yanks dont employ a scorched earth policy should things turn eastern. BigWheelMan
Jeff Savage, the video: Briton Jeff Savage threatens to loot and burn down Central World mall in Bangkok I warn you, this is going to make you cringe, although I didn`t hear him mention the Central World mall in this video. MAJIC
OK so one Brit made a drastic error of Judgement,by interfering with another countries Politics,of which we are guests in,and no doubt he will be suitably punished, and rightly so. Does that mean the Law abiding amongst us must suffer this constant barrage of Racialism just because we are also Brits? If most of you Brit Bashers had studied History at school you would have learned that Britain was also Colonised for 900 years,400 years by the Romans,267 years by the Vikings, and further years by the Saxons etc.And that was before Britain Colonised 1 single Country! do your research,,before jumping on uninformed slagging off Bandwagons. Give this incessant sniping a rest, you dont hear the Brits constantly whinging about our country being Colonised,do you?

hardy1943
Well......Pattaya has always ben the home for loonies that can't make it in their home Countries. It is mostly these foreigners that carry guns and run all the SHIT in Pattay, Phuket you name it, under the guise of their "Thai wifes". Get rid of them and Thailand will be beautiful once again. I hope they catch this guy. I have lived in Thailand for more than 25 years and the errosion of their culture started when wannabe gangsters such as this looney take advanatage of the lax Thai laws that allows them to be the best people in the world. Suppose the laws must be tightened to stop the rot....!!! What was this guy thinking. Not enough action in Pattaya, he had to loot the gold from Bangkok stores. GUILTY AS hel_l, lucky this guy caight him on video... that is how stupid he really is... I have to agree with you on Pattaya

Correct....We are all white boys to them. No need for them to waste time & energy to parse us out by country I do believe the Brits are having a big problem with both political sides here though... Mr. Savage did a great number on arson, which the existing government probably won't take lightly on. Then Thaksin was forced to leave UK a couple of years ago, when the authorities didn't want him to make London as a base for political harassment against his home country. If Thaksin would get back in power, he may have some favors to pay back to the Brits then. So... Hmm... No good situation. . NovaBlue05
There's a large segment of any population that never taps into or develops their own brains capacity for critical thought. If the Govt/media take an event that's insignificant in the context of the events surrounding it and chooses to focus attention to it, then that segment of the population might start to wrongly think that it is a real problem and view or treat farangs accordingly.
