I understand that many are upset by the appearance of some Red Shirt leaders sipping wine with friends and family in what appears to be a beach resort. However, as I understand it, the detainees have been arrested under Emergency Degree and under Thai law are not allowed to be held at a police station, jail, or penitentiary. In any case it seems to me that what is important is that they are detained and not able to communicate with their followers. Pictures of them with cell phones not withstanding, the authorities have said tools of communication have been removed. The desire for revenge is great, but it seems to me the government is at this juncture at least, handling this problem reasonably well. Following existing law can be difficult when many would prefer street justice. Following the laws of Thailand by the government, rather than catering to the demands for revenge, to me, seems to be in the long term interests of Thailand and all of it's people, and a pathway for reconciliation with the rank and file red shirt supporters. Patience is needed by all at this moment.
