CROWN PRINCE'S FAMILY / ROYAL TITLES BESTOWED

Daughter, consort honoured

BANGKOK: -- His Majesty the King yesterday bestowed on His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn's youngest daughter Her Serene Highness Princess Siriwanwaree Mahidol the title of Her Royal Highness Princess, and made the crown prince's consort Mom Srirasmi Mahidol na Ayudhya a princess.

The King said in his royal command, dated June 15, 2005, that he promoted HSH Princess Siriwanwaree Mahidol to the higher title of Her Royal Highness Princess as she is now a grown-up and her royal duties and academic performance had pleased him.

The King also appointed the crown prince's consort Mom Srirasmi Phrachaoworawongther Phra-ongchao Srirasmi Phraworachaya nai Somdej Phraborom Orasathiraj Siammakut Rajakumarn since she is the crown prince's wife and the mother of the prince's son.

Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said the city would organise celebrations on June 24-25 for the crown prince's newborn son following a royal celebration to be held by the Royal Household Bureau tomorrow.

The organising committee including representatives from the public and private sectors would meet next week to prepare the activities while a conclusion on the production of the royal baby's gold-framed birth certificate and the gold replica of his footprint was expected tomorrow, he added.

He said the Royal Household Bureau would be asked to schedule the presentation of the birth certificate and the gold replica of the royal baby's footprint.

The celebrations would be held at Sanam Luang, in front of City Hall, at the Mahajessadabodin Pavilion, at the Chinatown Gate in Yaowarat, at Santichaiprakarn park, at the public park under the Rama VIII bridge, at Benjasiri park in Klong Toey, and at Pattrawadee Theatre, and feature traditional activities and art performances such as khon (a traditional masked play enacting scenes from the Ramayana).

Royal ceremony for newborn prince scheduled for 17 June

BANGKOK: -- A Royal ceremony to celebrate the Month and Getting into the Cradle for the newborn Prince of the Royal Thai Family has been scheduled for 17 June, according to the Bureau of the Royal Household.

Their Majesties the King and Queen will preside over the ceremony at 02;30 p.m. at the Ananta Samakhom Thrown Hall on Friday.

During the ceremony, marking a welcoming for the newborn Prince’s good spirit, His Majesty the King will pour sacred water on the newborn Prince, cutting his hair with a pair of scissors and anointing him.

Their Majesties the King and Queen will each fasten a thread around the newborn Prince's wrist to welcome his good spirit.

Ten Buddhist monks, headed by Somdej Phra Phuttajarn from the Saket Temple, will offer a prayer.

This will be followed by a drum beating and a Brahmin horn blowing.

The new Prince will then be gently placed in his cradle's bedding, set by the chief Brahmin and His Majesty the King with auspicious items, including a gold bar bearing the name of the newborn Prince.

The chief Brahmin will sing a lullaby, while the Chief Royal Astrologer will beat a gong and blow a horn.

The costume offiicial will shake a two-faced drum, while celebratory music is played.

The new Prince, whose name will be officially announced tomorrow, was born to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and His Royal Consort, Mom Srirasmi Mahidol na Ayudhya, on 29 April amid public jubilation across the country.

Mom Srirasmi Mahidol na Ayudhya was yesterday granted a new Royal title, Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasmi, the Royal Consort of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, by His Majesty the King in a Royal command.

His Majesty the King also elevated the status of Her Serene Highness Princess Siriwanwaree to Her Royal Highness Princess Siriwanwaree Nareerat, the Royal Granddaughter, in a separate Royal command.
