PennyFarthing123
My wife was suppose to catch an Eva Air flight out of Seattle for BKK via Taipei. She misread her ticket and thought it was 2PM not 2AM. So she has missed the flight and can't get any information until morning. Anyone know what happens now, is there a penalty?
metisdead
She'll need to contact EVA Air and find out when they can put her on the next flight. At that time, depending on the terms of the ticket, she'll be told if there's a rebooking fee or not.
PennyFarthing123
According to their schedule the next flight is 2AM on the 3rd. Same Same, just a day later. Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens in the morning. By the way Penny Farthing is my wife I just happen to be at her computer. Thanks for the reply. ukrules
Please keep us updated, I make my decisions on which airline to use based on how they treat their customers. I've been using EVA lately.
tonititan
I don't know, but last week I had a nightmare about the exact same thing happening to me! Weird.
londonthai
there is only a little chance she will get anything. happened to me a similar story some 10 years ago - late for a flight from bkk with thai air. They let me in on the next flight - but it's at the discretion of the shift manager and not the airline policy. Since than rules are more strict, as many airlines are going down due to the crisis. the best to call seatle or even taipei office

ragandboneman
I missed a flight with Emirates last year, no charge for re-booking about three days later on the next available flight. Maybe different rules for different carriers. Best Regards ragandboneman
PennyFarthing123
This is PennyFarthing sitting in the Seattle Airport. First of all it was my mistake and no one elses. Just one of those dumb things and not really paying attention when I booked it. I needed to fly out of Pasco Wa. to connect with the Eva flight. It was around 12:30 at night when I re-read my ticket and saw what I had done. Unfortunately the two tickets were issued independntly and that made it my mistake. I had quite a time trying to get in touch with any one at Eva Air in the middle of the night, but finally reached a lady at the Eva ticketing in Seattle airport. She was very nice but said I would have to call reserations in the morning when they opened. She did give me the number to call. When I got to Seattle I called reservations and asked how soon they could get me out of Seattle to Bangkok. She ask why I had missed my flight and I said I had read the ticket incorrectly and thought the flight was for 2:10pm and missed my connection. She was very accomodating and had me booked on the flight for the following morning. Never said anythiing about a penalty so will have to wait until 10:00pm when I can check in to see if anything is said. So far they have been very good and I am impressed with the assistance so far. Will post more when I finally get to Bangkok. Meantime keeping my fingers crossed that there is not penalty fee. Hoping they just want to fill the planes on the way to Babgkok
PhilHarries
If there was to be a charge they'd have got you to pay before they rebooked. Although I've never rebooked due to missing a flight I have done so prior to the flight day and they charged before issuing the confirmation. PennyFarthing123
Phil I kind of thought that would be the case but didn't want to get my hopes up only to have them dashed at the last moment. So thanks for the vote of confidence. PennyFarthing
Birdman
Good pal missed the Turkish Airline flight from Istanbul to Bangkok during transit in Istanbul No charge for rebooking to the next flight. He had just one night in Istanbul, which is btw a fantastic place.
dddave
I think the fact that you honestly took responsibility will work in your favor. The people who try to bluster their way through and try to somehow blame the airline are the ones more likely to run into a brick wall. Good luck to you. Javabear
I missed a flight from BKK to Doha, Qatar because my plans changed and I was staying another 2 weeks. Qatar Airways didn't charge me anything to re-book.
martin81
I missed a TG domestic flight because of delay from TK flight from Istanbul. TG rebooked me to later flight but had to pay 760 B fee. It depends on the ticket type and sometimes also on good will of airline employees.
MarkyM3
I missed a Thai Airways flight back to London a few years ago and got charged approx 100 GBP to get on to the next available one.
moe666
Changed my EVA flighy 4 times in 1 day a few years ago. I was at the boarding gate and they escorted me back thru immigration got the 500 baht back arrived at baggage claim and luggage setting on a cart, no charge. I only fly EVA after this great service and great attitude and I have lots of miles for up grade and the flyers lounge isn't the best but ok. In April because of the volcano the booking was almost 2 weeks after I needed to be back in the states. The reservation lady worked with me and I used milage to upgrade to business and was able to get out on a flight within a few days. I can say nothing but good things about EVA never a bad experience. PennyFarthing123
I am back in Thailand now. Tired and a little worse for wear, but I have to say Eva Air was fantastic. Booked me on the next flight out and no charge. I must say that this experience has made me a loyal Eva Air flyer.

theoldgit
Yes, glad you got home ok. A good PR move by Eva, though I suspect it is nothing more than good old fashion customer service.

Knowing their current policies, more than likely that they will just re-schedule the flight {next one} without charge. This being said, one has to remember that every carrier has their own policies as such - and every situation is different from the next.
