Right, so the other day was วันไหว้ครู and i took a video of it in our school. It was taken to put on youtube to show my family and friends a bit about Thai culture. Part of the ceremony that i recorded had บทไหว้ครู i have taken the lyrics from the internet for this and i am at a bit of a loss as to how to translate it. It's above me. Here are the lyrics if anyone fancies a bash at it.

บทไหว้ครู

ปาเจราจริยา โหนติ คุณุตตรานุสาสกา

ข้าฯขอประณตน้อมสักการ บูรพคณาจารย์ ผู้กอร์ปเกิดประโยชน์ศึกษา

อีกทั้งท่านผู้ประสาทวิชา อบรมจริยา แก่ข้าในกาลปัจจุบัน

ข้าฯ ขอเคารพอภิวันท์ ระลึกคุณอนันต์ ด้วยใจนิยมบูชา

ขอเดชกตเวทิตา อีกวิริยะพา ปัญญาให้เกิดแตกฉาน

ศึกษาสำเร็จทุกประการ อายุยืนนาน อยู่ในศีลธรรมอันดี

ให้ได้เป็นเกียรติเป็นศรี ประโยชน์ทวี แก่ข้าฯ และประเทศไทยเทอญ

The other part which i want translated, is the students oath which they take before giving the flowers to their teachers. I have listened to it with landlady who is a Thai teacher and she helped me write it out. The only problem was the student who was making the speech over the speakers made a mistake. Here is what we got from it, and my attempted translation. We have already corrected the mistake.

ทุกคนกล่าวคำปฏิญานตามข้าพเจ้าว่า Everyone take this oath to say

เราคนไทย I am Thai

ใจกตัญญู grateful

รู้คุณชาติ (and) thankful to our nation,

สาสนา religion

พระมหากษัตริย์ and Great King

เรานักเรียน I am a student

จักต้องทำตน i must behave

อยู่ในระเบียบของโรงเรียน within the school's rules

มีความซื่อสัตย์ have honesty

ตัวตนเอง with myself

และผู้อื่น and others

เรานักเรียน I am a student

จักต้องไม่ทำตน I must not behave

ให้เป็นที่เดือดร้อน like i'm distressed

แก่ตนเองและผู้อืน to myself and to others

Any corrections or comments welcome. Also i was thinking about วันไหว้ครู and how to translate it best. You couldn't just call it teacher's day because there is a วันครู already on top of this one. So what? Paying Respect to Teachers Day.
