Thai Rak Thai Mp Jumps From Bangkok Condo

I personally prefer actions rather than words as a resolution to my own quipes.

such as?

Well for my ancestors, instead of sitting around and whinging (and yes, there was plenty that we could have complained about) about the Thai gov't... we got up and took over the whole country, gov't, army, police, and economy included. All walk, no need to talk (unless it happened to amuse us to do so).

:D

Might I inquire as to who the "we" are in your comments?

You may.

:D

I think for Heng "my ancestors" means everyone in Thailand who has any distant or not-so-distant relatives who at one time migrated to here from China.

My ancestors are British and I believe by this logic "we" now run the USA, Australia, Canada and a few sundry other places, as well as the UK of course, and basically have much of the political, military and economic clout in the world. This makes me personally feel very important.

As for Heng's more immediate ancestors, I think they actually had to go off to the good old US of A (Texas) to get the education and capital to get somewhere in Thailand. Unfortunately, it seems the experience has left him with some feelings of resentment.

Poor little boy... :o

Touched a nerve there eh?

*shot in the dark hitting the wall down by the gate*

Will have Sriracha John touch that up tomorrow.

:D:D

I'm more than willing to help out on improving your English skills as you apparently have difficulty understanding yesterday's post copied below.

:D

Are we off-topic here?

Ah yes, I thought I saw a flash of something while I was crusing past...

*switches off the autopilot*

According to the Thai Rath today... the girl jumped out of the condo while gathering her belongings WITH the dead mp's father and relatives - could have been her relatives or his relatives... not sure as I wasn't really paying too much attention as my newspaper reader was reading the article to me, but probably not the best thing to do to mix these two sides unchaperoned at the crime scene.

Seems the police are convinced it was an accident for the guy and suicide for the gal, although the reasoning is a bit thin (based simply on the probabilities of how they landed on the pavement below). Also failed to explain why he would be out on the thin precarious ledge climbing over an air-conditioner in the middle of the night. :o

Also thin is the believability of 4 people in the room with the gal and all of them turning away just as she climbed out a narrow window and jumped to a suicidal death.

The driver was cleared, although he too got hit by the guy, same as the gal did later. I was disappointed not to be reminded today what a "loving family man" the guy was... his lovely characteristics seem to grow the more that is revealed.

Attaphol's death 'an accident'

Thai Rak Thai MP Attaphol Sanitwongchai's fall to his death from his apartment on Wednesday was an accident, while his mistress Wassana Sunee intended to kill herself, a senior officer at Phaholyothin police station said yesterday.

Lt-Colonel Thanakan Konkaew said Attaphol had hit the floor head first and that according to forensics statistics, this meant his fall was probably an accident as suicides usually jump to their deaths feet first.

He added that murder had been ruled out because video footage from a security camera showed no signs of intruders or the presence of any strangers in the lounge area leading to Attaphol's room.

"The most likely scenario is that he could have leaned out of the window, or climbed over the compressor [of the air conditioner located outside the room] and slipped," Thanakan said, without explaining why police believe that Attaphol would have wanted to lean out or climb over the equipment.

Referring to Wassana's death, Thanakan said her left leg and waist were broken, as was the back of her skull, signifying that she may have jumped to her death.

The officer said it was still possible that Wassana had jumped from the room on the 10th floor while the four witnesses who were with her in the room at the time had turned away from where she was standing. The four all claim not to have witnessed Wassana's fall.

He added that it was also almost impossible that Wassana, who was much smaller in body size, could have thrown Attaphol from the window. Attaphol's chauffeur has also been ruled out as a suspect, following confirmation of his alibi, Phaholyothin station chief Colonel Warawuth Thaweechaikarn said.

Phichet Jabthien was still at the restaurant where the couple had dined in the evening, clearing the payment of the bill, when Attaphol and his girlfriend Wassana Sunee were at the La Maison Condo-minium off Soi Phaholyo-thin 24 where the MP fell to his death, the officer said.

Quoting witnesses, Warawuth said that Attaphol had left Phichet to pay the bill, after slapping him in the face during dinner due to his belief that the chauffeur was having an affair with Wassana. Phichet was forced to leave his mobile phone at the restaurant as a guarantee after failing to cover the bill with cash - an account confirmed by waiting staff at the restaurant.

Security guards at the condominium said they saw Phichet arrive at the scene in a taxi 15 minutes after Attaphol's fall.

Chao, Wassana's father, said he still did not believe his daughter "Nong Tik" would kill herself but he was willing to give up the fight to uncover the truth. "It's useless for ants like us to fight with elephants. Let bygones by bygones. Now they [Attaphol and Wassana] are together again," he said with emotion.

Chao said he had not been close to Wassana, whom he said was a quiet person by nature, but felt hurt seeing her on television with bruises on her face and a cut to her lips caused by Attaphol.

"That was painful enough, but learning of her death later on was even worse," he added.

Jamnian, Wassana's mother, said no Thai Rak Thai MPs or party representatives had attended Wassana's funeral service at Wat Pa Samakkhee Nong Kaew in Udon Thani's Muang district. There was not even a wreath from the party, she added.

About 30 of Wassana's friends and relatives attended the service.

Chalermphol, Attaphol's father, repeated his belief that his son had not wanted to kill himself.

He said Attaphol's older sister or younger brother might enter politics to succeed the Udon Thani MP, pending the initial approval of the Thai Rak Thai leader, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

One question mark item for Khunying Pornthip and company: the driver also had bruises (similar to the girl's injuries) on his face as well -at least on TV-.

The police are likely being a bit biased here by applying local patriarchichal norms in that when mia noi relationships end, it's typically the guy breaking up with the girl. It's the girl who usually has nothing left to live for or has to suffer the loss of face (or at least has to return to her normal life..... which in this case would have meant going back to being a normal student). The guy would normally still have all the perks of mp status -especially in this case as Udon Thani (which has high concentrations of Vietnamese Chinese Thai and Thai Chinese merchants) is considered one of the preferred troughs of mp life.... as opposed to other areas with more honest/less capable mps and lazier constituencies like... Angthong, Singhburi, etc.- coming to him for the rest of his life (someone else gets the lucky position now... almost immediately). Getting a new mia noi would have about as much social impact with his group as getting a new shade of window tint on one's car.

I think that many of us can attest to the almost superhuman strength Thai women can release in a fit of rage. And as Attaphol was not some fat farang I would not doubt in the possibility that Wassana could have pushed/shoved/thrown Attaphol out the window – albeit not necessary on purpose.

I think a completely reasonable scenario could involve a fight between Wassana and Attaphol resulting in Wassana going into a fit of rage and punching/kicking/shoving Attaphol. The results of which were Attaphol accidentally going out the window. So not murder, not suicide, and accident.

Chao, Wassana's father, said he still did not believe his daughter "Nong Tik" would kill herself but he was willing to give up the fight to uncover the truth. Sad to see a situation where a family feels they have no ability to seek the truth because of their status in a society.

I mean four people in the room and nobody saw her jump? At least one of them could have claimed to have been in the bathroom - starting to sound like that poor chap who committed suicide by shooting himself four times in the chest, and once in the head.

MP's driver given all-clear

BANGKOK: -- Police investigators have ruled out the driver for Atthapol Sanitwongchai, a Thai Rak Thai MP who fell from a condominium on Wednesday, as a possible suspect in the MP's death.

Pol Lt Col Thanakorn Konkaew, deputy superintendent for investigation attached to Phahon Yothin police station, said Pichet Chapthian had been removed from the list of possible suspects as he was not in the condominium during the incident.

Atthapol, 38, died on Wednesday after falling from the 10th floor of La Maison Condo in Chatuchak district after a fight with his girlfriend Wassana Sunee, 25. After being questioned by police all day, the girl fell from the same building and died.

Police have yet to determine if both deaths are suicide, murder or accident.

Pol Lt Col Thanakorn said police investigators also questioned a condominium security guard who confirmed Mr Pichet entered the condominium building after Atthapol's death.

Meanwhile, Khunying Porntip Rojanasunan, the deputy director-general of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, said relatives of Wassana should lodge a complaint with the Justice Ministry if they suspect foul play in her death. She said the institute cannot intervene unless asked.

Chamnian Sunee, Wassana's mother, said suicide was unlikely because her daughter was afraid of heights.

Wish I could find a pic of the window in question after seeing it on the tv news. It could help immeasureably to show how I don't believe it was an "accident" nor murder by Wassana. It is a narrow opening with a large air-con unit outside directly blocking anyone from simply being pushed out it. The tv news showed a cop climbing up to the window ledge and then having to turn sideways to get through the narrow opening befoe he had to step up and over the air-con unit in a reconstruction of events. Seriously doubt that any woman could push anyone out this window, even in a fit of rage as she would have had to wedge him through sideways, then lift him up and over the air-con unit and then push him out over it. The only way I see this occuring is if it's done intentionally by the person jumping. Also, the motivation isn't there. She wasn't a jilted lover, she was the one who had done the dallying. She was the one who wanted to end the relationship and leave.

Chao, Wassana's father, said he still did not believe his daughter "Nong Tik" would kill herself but he was willing to give up the fight to uncover the truth. I wholeheartedly agree regarding the different statuses and treatment of the parties involved.... The father's passive resignation that such was her lot in life (and death). I do admire her father's postive thinking of a very negative situation.

and yes... her death is far more suspect than that of her benefactor.

An earlier newspaper article reported Wassana was alone in the room at the time she jumped. Wonder who these 4 persons were? Any members of the MP's family?

The MP's father was one of them :o :

Police said yesterday they would question the father of Thai Rak Thai MP Attaphol Sanitwongchai, who fell to his death from his apartment on Wednesday, to determine whether he had put any pressure on his son's mistress that may have provoked her to jump to her death.

Lt-Colonel Thanakan Konkaew of Phaholyothin station said Chalermphol Sanitwongchai had said that following police interviews he had travelled back to the apartment from the police station in the same car as Wassana Sunee.

Chalermphol said he had offered Wassana the sum of Bt5,000. :D:D

The officer said police would seek confirmation of what Chalermphol had said to Wassana to determine whether any of his remarks could have affected Wassana's state of mind that led her to jump to her death.

I wouldn't be surprised if something Chalermphol said DID lead to her death. Maybe he said something like "Throw that **^%%* out the window" to his driver! :o

It's hard to say for sure as we don't know what either jumper or victim was thinking about. Unlike that German or Dutch (conflicting news reports) fellow who jumped off his 3rd floor (poor planning) hotel in Mukdahan this evening. Slashed his wrists, asked the hotel staff to take him to the hospital to take care of the injury.... then comes back to the hotel and jumps off the third floor, as if to say to everyone "yes, it's really suicide."
