Wnt to immigration yesterday, filled out the transfer of stamp form, got all the required copies, and went to the desk to get it done.

To my surprise I was told that they could not transfer the stamps at Immigration but that it would be done on my next 90 day trip to the border. I'm on a 1year Non Imm B due for its next 90 days on Sunday 20th June.

Anyone heard of this before?

Thanks

Where did you attempt this?

It appears you are not on an extension of stay so stamps would normally be transferred in Bangkok unless they have changed policy.

New passport the reason for the transfer of stamps request?

Mac

That's right.

As I understand it, Thai IMMIGRATION cannot transfer a VISA, which it looks like you're on. They can transfer Re-Entry permits and Extensions of visas, such as Retirement or Marriage, but not a visa stamp itself.

Not quite sure what Immigration at a border point will do, but shouldn't be a problem if you just travel with BOTH passports, your visa in the old one and new arrival and departure stamps in the new one. That's what my Thai wife does with her U.S. visa, which is in her old passport.

Cheers Mac. Immigration said take the old passport but I'd never heard of that. If it works for your missus, hopefully it will for me.

As for where; It was at Immigration at Chaeng Wattanna.

Same experience here......

Yesterday I went to Chaeng Wattana with my 2 passports and an embassy (German) confirmation letter; entry stamps transfer denied.

One year non-imm B, with last entry stamp from Pong Nam Rom and still allowed to stay till June 24th.

Stamp transfer denied by immigration office due to previous tourist visa in the "new" passport.

I shall contact the last point of entry to get the stamp transferred.

Unfortunately the embassy void the old passport which contains the visa and the last entry stamp.
