I'm a teacher in Isaan. Just changed jobs and need to get a new Non Imm B. Three years ago I went to Savannakhet to do so. Closest place to me. Smooth sailing. No problem. Now, I am having a hard time finding any recent information and read on one post that the Thai consulate in Savanakhet are only issuing tourist visas and "O" visas.

Input on this much appreciated. Would hate to go all the way there just to have to return and then head to Vientienne.

As said very few people use Savannakhet anymore as Vientiane was upgraded to handle the third country visa issue role. If no positive response here and you are not able to contact them it might be best to just go to Vientiane.

Thanks and absolutely appreciate the input, but a bit surprised if this is the best info I can get from Thaivisa/members. Vientiane hugely inconvenient for me. Has no one reported anything on Svannakhet situation since circa 2007?
